questions email: stcladder@comcast.net
1. Who is the Sharon Tennis Club?
The Sharon Tennis Club is a non-profit recreational club that maintains 5 red clay tennis courts in a friendly, social atmosphere.
2. What is covered by the membership fees?
Membership fees cover the maintenance of the club. Red-clay tennis courts require constant maintenance. The STC has paid staff responsible for keeping our courts in great shape. The bulk of our yearly revenue goes directly toward club maintenance.
Fees for 2011:
Individual Membership $175
Family Membership $200
3. Are there court time fees? How do I reserve a court?
There are no additional court time fees. We do not have reserved court times. The use of our courts is on a first-come, first served basis. We have a detailed set of rules designed to govern court use when all the courts are full. Most mornings between 8:30 and 11:00 the courts are very busy for mostly doubles.
4. Can I just drop-in and find a game?
Drop-in tennis is an important and long-time feature of the club. Members can usually just drop-in and get into a doubles game without having to arrange a game in advance. Weekday and weekend mornings are very busy with drop-in doubles. There are also round robins Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Beyond that, the courts are available much of the time.
5. Who are your members?
The Sharon Tennis Club includes members of all skill levels. Our members enjoy competitive play in a relaxed social environment. We have a large number of retired members. Individual and Family memberships are available.
6. Are there clinics, lessons, or a teaching pro for beginners?
Historically, the Sharon Tennis Club has not accomodated professional training programs. We have no club pro. We are unlike for-profit clubs offering these services. A member may use the courts for lessons but only in accordance with our court-use guidelines. Members taking lessons at the club are very rare.
7. Where is the club?
The club is accessed thru the parking lot on the southbound side of the Sharon T station (where the Trains to Providence sign is). There is a dirt road on the backside of the lot. Look for the Sharon Tennis Club sign.
